We've been considering projects based on the XO in sfx. There are
several available from the earlier g1g1 program. One of the barcamp
attendees was quite active, building a wiki etc.
I think the difficulty with the XO is calibrating its best use. The
UI is definitely odd and takes some getting used to. But the key is
education. It would be great if someone in the FRIAM and/or sfx world
would spend some time exploring the educational aspect of the device:
what are its strengths for education, what is its best "ecology", what
educational programs/directions would make sense, what web services
would amplify the critter.. and so on.
As an example, I'd be interested in its use in the GIS world: teaching
geography, naturally, but also nifty kid-oriented GEO mashups. Here
we could provide an XO focused GeoServer (or possibly Google Maps)
where the XO could use the server to simplify the access to GEO data.
Is there anyone out there interested in becoming expert in the XO?
