Hey Mohammed,
I have a demo version of AnyLogic and amimpressed with the hybrid approach
of system dynamics modeling, discrete event and ABM. I haven't done a real
project in it so am not very qualified to give a final judgement. I did talk
with the developers and marketing folks at last years WinterSim conference
where most of the OR-related simulation packages had booths. I came away
most impressed with AnyLogic and have been planning to dig into it
further...but haven't had the time.
BTW, Netlogo now has a rudimentary systems dynamics module and basic 3D...

A colleague of mine has recently brought to my attention XJ technologies'
AnyLogic ABM/SD software. They have some pretty neat demos at
http://www.xjtek.com/models/system_and_business_dynamics/.
Has anyone tried it out. I wonder how it would compare in term of nuts and
bolts functionality (forget about fancy autoapplet generation) with RePast
!!!
In there product description page
(
http://www.xjtek.com/anylogic/modeling-levels/) they make the extravagant
claim:
"AnyLogic? is the only tool that enables efficient development of agent
based models. "
