An Ecology of Mind

Jochen Fromm-5
Do you think that Bateson's idea of an "Ecology of Mind"
and Minsky's idea of a "Society of Mind" have something
in common? Are both Ecology and Sociology useful to
extend Psychology?

see http://www6.ufrgs.br/horizon/files/teoria2/bateson.pdf
or http://books.google.com/books?id=Wfe2t_qzaHEC

Maybe "connects", something which somehow
connects psychology with neuroscience. Someone
said "the only constructive theory connecting
neuroscience and psychology will arise from the study
of software" (cs.yale.edu/quotes.html).

I think a useful theory of this kind has more in common
with ecology or sociology: it must describe complex adaptive
systems which consist of many elements - systems that are
able to adjust and adapt themselves.
