Friends:
If Jane's is no longer a viable site, what are our alternatives? I suggest these possible parameters: *) Centrality of location *) Elasticity of space to accommodate 3-20 people *) Quality of coffee and other edibles *) Both indoor and outdoor tables and chairs easily moved *) Ease of parking *) WiFi cnx *) Facility's ability to tolerate a, ummmm, "unique" clientele This is not a hierarchical list. With these considerations, here are some possibilities: *) The Pink Adobe Cafe Near 406 Old Santa Fe Trl just south of Rio Chama restaurant Good parking when legis. not in session. *) The Travel Bug 839 Paseo de Peralta http://www.mapsofnewmexico.com/Photos.html good parking in back *) Museum Hill Cafe NB- Opens at 10 a.m., but perhaps we could encourage something a bit earlier? Plenty of parking, nice environment http://www.walterburkecatering.com/MuseumHillCafe/ *) Santa Fe Baking company 504 West Cordova Rd Others? -tom ============================================================= J. I vote for the travel bug. it's easy to get to and large enough to accommodate
us. I hope I'm not going to come across as too much of a wet blanket, but
here goes. *) We met at Museum Hill Cafe in fall/winter 2002/03 after we outgrew Downtown Sub. Then they changed management and began to open later and no, they were not willing to be flexible to get our business. *) I vote no on Santa Fe Baking Company. IMHO the food and the coffee are both terrible. *)Thoughts on Travel Bug: It's a relatively small place and we can be a relatively big group. Would we drive away other Friday clientele? Does he have other Friday clientele? We can only ask. What's it like in hot weather? *) Having never been to the Pink Adobe Cafe, I have neither the ability nor the right to register an opinion. I promise to work on some positive ideas ASAP. Dede On Mar 4, 2005, at 4:48 PM, Tom Johnson wrote: > Friends: > > If Jane's is no longer a viable site, what are our alternatives? I seemed to have missed the start of this topic.
Why do we need an alternative to Jane's ? Joe |

Yeah, Museum Hill *tolerated* us. Not much of a menu. Wierd hours.
Santa Fe Baking Company is too crowded. Good parking, but noisy and it would be hard to find a big enough table. Travel Bug might be OK. Nice spot, parking, WiFi, Haven't tried their coffee yet. Pink Adobe? Never been there. Peered in the window once. Sage Bakehouse has truly excellent blueberry muffins but not enough places to sit. Pity there's nothing mid-town. Dare I suggest we retry DTS? Not a big fan, but, there they are...we'd have to twist their arms hard on WiFi access and there's an asymmetric diffusion problem with the parking lot. Tongue securely in cheek, how about The Institute? One could make a reasonable case....Friday Community Outreach Omlets Thing...naah... nice image, though. A friend of mine recently took over operation of the Museum Cafe. I
believe they are thinking of opening earlier as the weather warms. What about the Whole Foods Community Room? Don't know about the WiFi. Cloud Cliff has free WiFi and is fairly large. //Joe On Fri, 04 Mar 2005 22:26:03 -0700, "Carl" <[hidden email]> said: > Yeah, Museum Hill *tolerated* us. Not much of a menu.
