Hi Steve,
This could actually be a good talk, and possibly of interest to some
FRIAMers. Staffan was pointed to me as one of the more interesting
people in the German/Scandanavian game design community, and he is
well spoken of by Mats Nordahl, though for me this is still a first
meeting.
Hopefully the irritating event of our rescheduling from yesterday will
present an opportunity for people who didn't want to make two trips
here in the same day.
Eric

> Abstract:
> With the advances in computer technology comes new perceptions of what
> computers are and what we can use them for. From a broadened view of
> human-computer interaction, as well as areas such as ubiquitous
> computing and wearable computing, the design of use has become central
> for developing devices and systems using computational power. This new
> area of design, Interaction Design, is a second-order design discipline
> that focuses on the design of activities rather that devices or
> appearances, and thereby more of temporal aspects than spatial ones.
> Staffan Bj?rk will give a talk about how these new fields of design has
> grown from computer science and other fields, giving especial focus upon
> work done at the PLAY studio of the Interactive Institute in Sweden.
> Examples of projects areas that will be covered are pervasive games and
> computation as a design material.
