At a conference I'm currently attending, Dewayne Hendricks (a pioneer
in the wireless community network world), pointed out that this
technology has made the break-through needed for it to be extremely
effective and the backbone for several effective networks being built
today.
We are constantly slipping back into "DSL/Cable" is good enough. The
new mesh networks are not only faster than any commercially available,
they are free from the artificial restrictions placed on DSL/Cable.
Dewayne has examples of city mesh in Germany that easily supports VoIP,
movies/torrent, and more.
